Logan Christopher has written a very clear, concise, accurate guide to both the ab wheel and hanging leg exercises. His wording is simple and clear. The pictures are excellent. Remarkably, as opposed to many other
"experts" he does not decry as "wrong" some shortcuts such as bending the knees a little in the hanging leg progressions. But he does state that those with straighter legs in the exercise will be stronger. And he does discuss explosive vs strict, slow movement. Again, Logan does not decry either, but points out that the strict movement user will be stronger.
Logan's progression for the ab wheel starts with hollows, planks, and the superman progressions before working with the wheel itself. His progressions for hanging leg exercise are from straight hang to bent knee hang to tuck lever, to hanging legs of various degrees through toes to bar. He does recommend beginning with one or the other and getting along in the progression before working on both. And he does push the progression to windshield wipers and circular leg raises.
Logan's directions are easy to follow. There is no fluff here, just down to earth, realistic progressions to two advanced ab exercises. Logan states he chose these two as in one you raise the legs and the other you move the body. These are his favorite of the many ab exercises available. Logan accurately states that actually these two exercises strengthen the entire core, and not just the abs, like crunches and situps.
A good book well and clearly written and illustrated which accomplishes the purpose it set out to accomplish, i.e. mastery of the ab wheel and the hanging leg raise.
A good buy. This book should become the standard reference on ab wheel and hanging leg progressions in gymnastic, strength, high school and commercial gyms.
