I absolutely loved this book- so much so that I had to email the author and let her know the minute I finished the book. It is a light but great read. You have to be pretty darn creative to be able to think of a Zombie Social Worker! If you are looking for a book with blood, guts, and gore- keep looking, this book is NOT for you. However, if you are looking for a cute book about zombies, one that has a little romance involved, then this is the book for you.

From the beginning you can fully relate to Rose and everything she has to try to put up with. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes Zombies... or anyone who just wants a great book to read over the holidays! Check out my full review [...]
I Dream of Zombies is a cute, fast, little read that you'll enjoy, especially this time of year when your time is not your own!

Rose Lee is a zombie counselor, though she's really more of a social worker. Her job is to help the zombies, a part of the population often misunderstood, ignored, abused, and hurt, siimply because some are losing body parties and often go crazy at the end.

Rose's story is told with humor throughout, and there are some twists and turns throughout the story to keep you going, though a few of the "mysteries" weren't mysteries to me at all.

There are some minor typos and some editing things that did bug me, however (most of the book is told from the first person point of view, but there are occasions when for a sentence or two, it switches to third person).

The book ends with a cliffhanger that really wasn't a surprise to me at all (without giving anything away, this character just kept being mentioned oddly, and there wasn't any point to the character being mentioned, so obviously the author was setting us up for something).

I Dream of Zombies has an original spin on your average zombie story. It takes place after the zombie storm when people are recovering and starting to prosper again. Rose Lee is a zombie social worker trying to help those struck with the disease. Her life is shook up when she discovers a young woman with the symptoms of the zombie disease working at a fast food joint. The woman, Leah, having been found out, escapes and takes off in Rose’s car. Through all this, Rose still wants to help this woman, a struggling single mother who just recently lost her father to the disease.

Rose’s commitment to the people doomed to die by zombie-hood is moving. She is a strong woman with a big heart who is not afraid to put her neck on the line. Oh, and there’s a bit of a love story here. It’s woven nicely into the plot and doesn’t detract attention away from the story, rather it’s a welcome respite to the heaviness of Rose’s journey.

The POV switches from first person to third person. The sudden switch in POV’s is jarring and pulled me out of the story a few times. I would have rather seen breaks or given some other kind of warning before it happened.

Overall, I Dream of Zombies is witty, humorous, and the mystery surrounding Leah coupled with the strange goings-on at the local grocery store will keep you turning the page. I recommend this book to anyone who loves zombies and is looking for a quick fun read told within your not-so-typical zombie world.
