Book 9 of the Krewe of Hunters series takes place in Lily, Arizona. The discovery of an old skull among the props in the Gilded Lily, a former theater, has Jane Everett in town to create a image of who skull once was. Sloan Trent is the sheriff in town and he has a bad feeling that something is getting ready to happen in Lily. Logan and Kelsey from earlier books arrive to help Jane and Sloan unravel the mystery as more deaths and attempted deaths begin.
There were a couple of times in this book that the wrong character was mentioned which is a little distracting. Example: Page 225 "Sloan's mood was like a thunder-cloud, and Jennie (supposed to be Jane) had difficulty disentangling herself from the people trying to stop her as she walked toward the door", I understood that Jennie was not in that paragraph but it does distract from the story because I had to stop and reread it to think about who was in it. Maybe proof reading is more difficult than I thought.

Just finished this book. I had a hard time putting it down. I started one day and finished it the next. It is definitely right up there with all other paranormal books written by Heather Graham. I've already start Book 10. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I really enjoy Heather Graham 's "Krewe" novels. I'll buy them anytime. They are formulaic, but she writes them well. The villains are usually someone you don't expect. This book is the same, well-written, supernatural mystery with discreet sex scenes and an unexpected villain. However, this book needed some editing in its early chapters. Several times the hero was referred to by the name of a character from another book who is a spring character in this book. I also think the heroine's name is confused with a different character a couple of times. Fortunately, these errors don't occur frequently throughout the book, just enough at the beginning to be a bit confusing. Overall an enjoyable read.
This book is another great read from Ms. Graham. Just received it yesterday and I'm sad to say I've already finished it...bummer!!! The characters are well developed and the plot draws you right in. Not only is there the mystery surrounding the current goings on in Lily, but there's also the added bonus of figuring out what happened in the past. The book is fun, creepy, at times even a bit silly, but always engaging...an absolute page turner! You'll root for Jane & Sloan, say hello to old friends from the "Krewe", and constantly change your mind about who the bad guys are. And best of all, there's 2 more books coming; can't wait!!!
Heather Graham did it again. I am a huge fan of her Krewe of Hunters series. Loved ever one of them. This one was as great as all her other Krewe books. As usual this novel was full of suspense, mystery, romance and lots of action.

The Night is Watching was a mixture of murder mystery set in an old ghost town full of it's own secrets of the past. There were so many twists and turns that I couldn't decide whom the villain was. I was hooked and couldn't put it down. it was fast packed and very suspenseful.

I loved the lead characters, Sloan & Jane. Their personalities clashed when they first met and I thought it was very funny. Their relationship was rough in the beginning but as things started happening it changed. I also loved that we got to see some of our past favorite characters. It was a nice reunion.

As usual, I recommend Heather Graham and the Krewe of Hunters to anyone who loves mysteries. I can't wait for the next one.
Another hit from one of my favorite authors!

This story takes place in Lily, Arizona; a small historic town that at one time in the early 1900's had been a bussling gold mining town. Now it was almost forgotten except for three building mainly. The Sheriff's office, run by Sloan Trent, who had returned home to care for his sick grandfather for the Houston, Texas police force. There was also a B&B that used to be the old jail house and known to be haunted and lastly the Gilded Lily a bar and theatre house, also known to be haunted.

Everything is pretty boring and mundane until one of the actors at the Guilded Lily finds the head of a body in the basement amongst all the props. It seems to be very old and the Sheriff wants to turn it over to the Smithsonian, but the Mayor wants it kept in town. So because the Sheriff is an old friend with Special Agent Logan Raintree, one of the members of the Krewe of Hunters, he calls them in to assist with the case.

Another city on my list of cities to go check out! Loved this story and all the mystery and murders that were taking place! A must read!
Heather Graham's books are all very similar to each other which is good in that if you like one - you'll probably like most of them.
Some of them have better plots than others - this one was quite well thought out with a crime in the past leading to several crimes in the present - both of which need to be solved.
Although it is part of the Krewe of Hunters series - the Krewe isn't really heavily involved which was a bit disappointing. I love to see past characters come back. We did get Logan and Kelsey though who are two of my favourites.
The two main characters - Sloan and Jane - could have used a bit more.... ooomph.. injecting into them. Yes, they were almost physically perfect as expected but I didnt find their characters especially exciting or endearing.

Graham still includes romance and sex scenes but she has definately toned down both in recent books. I hope she doesnt lose the romance angle further because there are plenty of murder/mystery authors out there and plenty of romance authors and it's nice to have a bit of both.

As always the books are a light, enjoyable read. They are very much like your favourite recipe for chocolate cake. Every piece tastes pretty much the same, it's not going to win any prizes at a bake show but when no one is looking you can't wait to grab another piece )

As mentioned there were some editing problems with characters names being confused or just wrong on the kindle edition.
