Sparkling the Light of Jesus (a review of A Rooster Once Crowed by Bryant Cornett)Reviewer: Janice S. Garey
The bright cover of A Rooster Once Crowed sets the stage for this wonderful book that brilliantly shines forth the light of Jesus. The explanations and interpretation of the Bible fit perfectly with my understanding. I have never found the whole so succinctly and thoroughly articulated in a single volume.
The Scriptures used throughout would make a great starting point to begin a scripture memory program. All the biblical support leading up to the ultimate question is in your hands with this book. Bryant Cornett is a fisher of people in the truest sense with this work. He leads them with his line of words and tone of voice to their Savior. And then he asks the ultimate question in a whimsical yet serious and irresistible manner. Will you accept the invitation of the Holy Spirit to accept Jesus? He uses unique and appropriate analogies to lead up to the point of decision.
This book is a refresher course for the believing Christian. It is an evangelism tool to be given along with a Bible for the seekers in our midst. Seekers will get a clear message in easily digested doses from this book. What they may never have understood before will become clear after reading A Rooster Once Crowed.
I received this book at no cost from bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review. I recommend this book to all who desire to draw closer to the Lord.

Good book. Needs to be read by more people whether you believe in The Lord. JESUS CHRIST or not.
Only gave it three stars because there are SO MANY typographical errors.
This book certainly increased my belief and faith in the crucified and risen Christ. Yes, Jesus disciple Peter denied knowing Jesus 3 times before the rooster crowed as Jesus had predicted-- don't we all at times. Bit he went on to become one of the founders of Christianity. Reading this book inspired me to return to daily Bible reading, especially the New Testament, and that also increased my faith.
I will be eager to read more from this gifted writer.
A great read for both seeker and believer, this book covers the core content and crux of the Gospel and how the entirety of Scripture and of created history fit in. Very thoughtful and methodical without being overly scholarly or a tedious read. Warning, in that if you are not a believer, you will have no excuse to not be by the time you have read even ten percent of this book. Uses Scripture well in illustrating points, as well as contemporary media examples to do the same. Brings home the point that ALL have sinned, ALL need redemption, and ALL of us need to constantly evaluate/reevaluate where we are in Christ.
I did not expect much from this book, but was happily surprised to find it was not just another preachy book telling me how I should live my life. It does a lot of that, but is not at all preachy in delivering its message. Those who enjoy parties and dancing will find it easier to relate to the author, but if you do not, you can imagine situations that work for you instead. One of the best parts of the book deals with why Jesus had to die as He did for us. I had not heard it before, and it is powerful.
This is an excellent book for a Christian, or a seeker.
I don't normally read religious books but, for me, this was a really good book. It changed the way I think of the bible. It taught me things that I didn't know about the bible. I went to Catholic school, so I thought I knew everything there was to know. Maybe I hadn't paid close enough attention. In any event,I learned things that interested me. I was glad to have read this book!
I didn't finish this book, however got to chapter 9. Up until that point I really enjoyed reading this opinion. He made some really great suggestions and times that really made one go 'wow never looked at it that way' and thus the 3 star rated. It may have gotten a higher rating...but in Chapter 9 I've tried to read it through twice but it started loosing me both time. It seemed like he just kept going on and on and on about the same thing instead of wrapping up his point and moving on. He did that a little in the other chapters but staying with the reading you saw how he wrapped it all together and made a great chapter but for the ending of the book,....I just can't seem to follow him to finish. I do appreciate the thoughts and the studies he guided me toward
"Belief is a noun. Believe is a verb." For me this quote sums up Bryant Cornett's commentary on the gospel of Jesus Christ, the title is taken from Peter's denial after the arrest of Jesus, right before the Crucifixion. This book is like no other I have read on my it is interactive; which means whatever I am reading is linked to a scripture reference that I can click on to go more in-depth. Having read and studied the Bible for years, this was informative, and fun, trying to guess what scripture he would quote--many times he would give me something new to think about. For any level of seeker this can be enlightening. The author wrote the book based on a Sunday school lesson that he gave and recorded. It can also be downloaded and heard with a link he gives in the book. At the beginning of each chapter, and before you start the lesson; he gives you gospel chapters to read. This is a superb tool for anyone learning about Jesus and The Bible. For new believers or seasoned followers it deepens your walk with God. Another one of my favorite quotes is "But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being." So many great thoughts are packed into this Spirit inspired gem that I'm giving it 5 stars.
